Stocks: SIRI, NGEN, ALTI
I think I'm done with Sirius Radio. I was impressed with their ability to get the NFL, NBA and NHL trifecta. Although many people felt that $220 million in cash and stock for the NFL was a bit high, I stuck with Sirius...partially because I'm a big NFL fan so I had faith.
But as details of the Howard Stern deal become more public, I have a gut feeling that I'm not going to like it. Sirius made the deal with Howard Stern about a year ago or so, but I think they're overpaying and there won't be enough of a jump in subscriptions to really make it a worthwhile deal. And given Howard's propensity to do crazy stuff, I just think he's going to end up doing something that will jeopardize the relationship. And for so much money to be riding on someone who makes their living being a rebel...well, I need a safer ship to ride on.
Besides, SIRI is hovering at $6.50 and I've gotten out of it what I expected. I'm going to jump on the nanotechnology train and try my luck on the Nanogen (NGEN) and Altair (ALTI) bandwagon now.
